This Privacy Policy governs the manner in which Not-An-Alarm, developed by Valerio Technologies AB, collects, uses, maintains, and discloses information collected from users of the Not-An-Alarm application.
App Information:
- App Name: Not-An-Alarm
- Description: Not-An-Alarm generates personalized audio content for users’ morning alarms using data from Google Calendar, Google Tasks, a weather service, and a news service.

Data Collection:
- The app collects the user’s geographical location, Google Calendar, and Google Tasks data.
- Geographical location is obtained once and stored securely in the backend. It can be deleted at any time by the user.
- Google Calendar and Google Tasks are accessed daily through Google public APIs.
- Users have control over manual updates of their location and withdrawal of access to Google Calendar and Google Tasks data.
Data Usage:
- Collected data, including Google Tasks and Google Calendar events, is used to create highly customized audio content for users’ daily alarms, incorporating tasks, weather information, and relevant news.
- The data collected from Google Tasks and Google Calendar is collected and directly used for the alarm generation. It is not stored by Not-An-Alarm.
- Data collected from Google Tasks and Google Calendar is shared with Open AI through their OpenAI APIs to compose unique alarm content and translate it into an audio file using the Whisper APIs.
User Controls:
- Users can opt out of data collection at any time by toggling the relevant options in the app settings.
- Disabling access to mandatory data sources (e.g., Google Calendar) will disable the generation of new alarms for the user, ensuring transparency in data utilization.
- Complete deletion of past data can be requested by contacting the developer through the official email.
Security Measures:
- Tokens for source systems are stored in the backend, protected through Firebase Security Rules.
- Generated audio files (.mp3) are stored in a secure cloud location, accessible only by users through a secure link sent to their phones.
- Audio files are automatically deleted after 30 days, enhancing data privacy.
Third-Party Services:
- Google APIs (Google Calendar and Google Tasks): Users are encouraged to review Google’s Terms of Service for data handling.
- The Guardian Open Platform (News Retrieval): No user data is transmitted during news retrieval.
- openweathermap.org (Weather Data Retrieval): No personal user data is shared during weather data retrieval.
- Open AI Platform (Alarm Content Generation): Users should review Open AI’s Terms of Use for service usage terms.
Policy Updates:
- Users will be notified of changes to the Privacy Policy through email.
- Effective Date: 2nd May 2024.
