Is it free?
Yes.
Do I need a Google account?
No. You can set up your alarm without signing in, with the weather and the news. Connect Google when you want your calendar and tasks in your briefing, or to keep your settings on a new phone.
When is my briefing written?
Just before your alarm. That way it has the latest weather, today’s events and this morning’s headlines.
Does it need an internet connection?
Yes, at alarm time: your briefing is written and sent to your phone right then. If your phone is offline at that moment, it can’t ring on time, so keep a backup alarm for the mornings you can’t miss.
Will it ring when my phone is on silent?
It plays at your phone’s alarm volume, like your other alarms, which ring on silent too. If Do Not Disturb is set to silence alarms, it will be silent as well. You set the volume on the Alarm tab.
Why does it sometimes miss a task?
It reads your default Google Tasks list: the tasks due today and the ones still open from earlier days. Upcoming occurrences of repeating tasks aren’t available through Google’s Tasks API, so it can’t read those until they’re created.
Can I choose which calendars it reads?
Yes. In Customize, open Calendar and switch off the ones you don’t want, like holidays or shared family calendars.
Can I change what it says?
Yes. In Customize you choose what goes in and in which order, how long it is and its style. Under Anything else? you can write what you want in your own words. After a briefing, the thumbs down on the Today tab offers quick fixes: shorter, less news, more about your day.
Can I hear it again?
Yes. The Today tab has your latest briefing to replay or read, with the weather, your day and the headlines. Earlier mornings stay there for 30 days.
What happens when I travel?
Your alarm follows your phone’s time zone: open the app once in the new place and it rings at the same local time. The weather stays for the city you chose; change it in Customize.
Which languages does it speak?
46 languages, with 30 voices. You can listen to every voice before you pick one.
What happens to my data?
Your events and tasks are used only to write your briefing, sent to Google Gemini without other people’s email addresses. Briefings are kept for 30 days, then deleted. The details are in the Privacy Policy.
How do I delete my account?
In the app, open Settings and tap Delete account. Without the app, use the Delete Account page.
